EDITOR — One writer recently expressed dismay at the long, winding queues at ZESA offices arising from the introduction of the prepaid system. The problem is that the power utility introduced the prepaid system before they were ready. Currently if you take South African rands or any other currency besides the United States dollar to ZESA it won’t be accepted which just goes to show the level of their unpreparedness.
ZESA should also make use of Powertel to connect customers and juice their prepaid accounts conveniently than the current system whereby consumers have to go to a ZESA revenue hall or selected OK outlets to buy power. In Tanzania, for example, you can buy prepaid (Luku) power at any time of day 24/7.
Like what we saw with the country’s diamonds, ZESA are probably waiting for instruction from the presidium to act. Shame on you lap dogs!
